People with visual impairments

This group includes every person whose mobility in transport is reduced due to a visual impairment, from low vision to complete blindness. Such impairment, be it temporary or permanent, influences how the person interacts with the physical or digital context. Depending on the severity of their condition, people with reduced vision may prefer to use public transportation services in autonomy or with some kind of aid (a person or a device). In both cases, a higher level of guidance and support is needed to provide visually impaired people with appropriate information and access to services (e.g. in the physical context tactile wayfinding, in-level access to stations, high-contrast screens, etc.), according to needs.

INDIMO will focus on identifying solutions to provide visually impaired people specific support when crossing city streets, thanks to digital services designed with a user-centred approach.
